I can think of several large lists that I subscribe to where many weeks will go by without them sending out a newsletter or mailing. The few times they do send out mailings, it's to pitch either their own product or an affiliate product. After this happens a few times, I usually just unsubscribe from the list.

You want people to know what your site is about, creating a fantastic first impression with those arriving at your site. So when you created a focused blog theme, and organized it, this is the same type of thinking. It's easy to tell if you are on an unfocused site because you won't know what it is about once you arrive.
